Ptahra Jeppe, Esq., M.S.Ed.
Ptahra Jeppe is a dedicated disability Special Education and Disability Rights Attorney whose practice focuses on special education law in New York City.
Ptahra has a personal understanding of the barriers faced by people with disabilities. It was Ptahra’s journey as an individual with dyslexia that inspired her to become a special education attorney so that she could continue advocating for children with disabilities and their families.
Prior to law school, Ptahra worked as Program Director at Everyone Reading (formerly the New York branch of the International Dyslexia Association) and served as Chief of Staff to New York State Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon. In both capacities, she worked to advocate for and uplift the voices of those in need and individuals with disabilities.
Prior to joining The Goodwin-Oquendo Law Firm, P.C., Ptahra served as a Wolinsky Fellowship Attorney at Disability Rights Advocates, where she worked on disability civil rights cases across the country concerning equal access to public services and programs in the areas of education, transportation, criminal justice, and institutions. Ptahra then served as a Staff Attorney at Advocates for Children of New York, where her practice focused on representing families of students with disabilities who had not been provided a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
Ptahra has guest lectured at numerous colleges, universities, organizations, companies, and parent groups. She was appointed to the New York State Dyslexia and Dysgraphia Task Force and The New York State Hunt Institute’s: The Path Forward Literacy Initiative Working Group. Ptahra currently serves as a board member of Everyone Reading, a board member of the New York State Reading League Chapter, an advisory board member of Dyslexia Alliance for Black Children, a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates as well as the co-chair of the Disability Members Committee, and class representative of the Churchill School Alumni Board.
Ptahra is a magna cum laude graduate of Adelphi University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Political Science.
She earned her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law and her Master of Science in Education from the Syracuse University School of Education. She is admitted in New York.
